Install Instaloader on MacOS Using pipx

• Install both packages and force them to share their virtual environment

pipx install instaloader browser-cookie3
pipx inject instaloader browser-cookie3

• Log into your instagram account with your browser.

• Load the session into instaloader. But before you do, cd into your home directory

instaloader --load-cookies Brave        #or any other supported browser

This stores a session file with your username in /Users/USERNAME/.config/instaloader/session-USERNAME

• Now create your arguments file args.txt

--login=USERNAME
--stories
--reels
--abort-on=302,400,429
--no-iphone
--user-agent="YOUR-BROWSER-USER-AGENT"
--no-metadata-json
--sanitize-paths
--no-captions
--filename-pattern={profile}_{date_utc}
--no-resume

• Try downloading from a profile

instaloader virdas +args.txt

• Troubleshooting: If you get a GraphQL error, update instaloader from this source

pipx install --force "git+https://github.com/alimony/instaloader.git@fix-profile-resolution"
